Click to learn how to make inexpensive TOMBSTONES for your Halloween Graveyard.
Adding spooky Halloween tombstones as a part of your Halloween décor does not need to be expensive or difficult. All you need is some sheets of Styrofoam, a few tools and a little creativity.
The first thing you need to do here is to draw your tombstone design on the Styrofoam and cut it out with a serrated knife. Try and be creative here. You can go for creepy looking shapes instead of plain, traditional ones.
After the basic design has been cut out, it’s time to go into more details. A wood burning tool can be really useful here for etching the epitaph on the Styrofoam. After the inscriptions are done, spray black acrylic paint on them (the epitaph) heavily.
Try using a gray spray primer for the entire surface of the tombstone. After you have done this, spray the edges of the tombstone for shade. All you have to do now is spray light patches of dark green paint to give the effect of age and moss.
If you don’t want to etch the inscriptions on the tombstone with wood burning tool, try using Acrylic craft paints and artist's brushes for the lettering, but only after you have finished coloring the entire tombstone.
To set the tombstones on your lawn, cut two 8 - 12 inches lengths of wire coat hanger wire. Gently push the two pieces of wire into the Styrofoam base of the stones, about halfway and push the other half of the wires into the grass.
Depending on the type of crowd you will have at your Halloween party will depend on the type of Halloween menu you have. The one thing that will remain the same is to capture the guest’s interest and keep with the theme. A great menu item to have at a kid’s party is dirt cups with skeleton candy pieces in it. A great idea for an adult Halloween party is to mix drinks that are green, black and orange in color.
