Halloween Safety
Halloween Safety
Here are some Halloween safety tips:
1. When using power tools and equipment in moist or wet areas use a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupt.) They can be purchased at your local hardware store and will kill the power, preventing death, if water shorts out your equipment.
2. Make safe electrical connections; power down any circuits. Place a lock if you can on the breaker box while you work.
3. Know what you are doing when dealing with electricity. The last thing you want is a real nightmare when your garage is on fire!
Find a real electrician or at least educate yourself on the basics. Note in most cities it is illegal to do your own electrical work.
4. Lamp Placement - Give your lighting instruments plenty of breathing room to prevent fires.
5. Rigging - A speaker suspended by fishing line could add to the dead bodies laying around your door. Use proper cabling and supports for heavy objects.
6. Most burning plastics can let off toxic fumes; use the right stage gel to color your lighting.
7. Contrary to popular belief, Helium can damage your vocal cords. Don't go crazy at the Halloween party!
